Did you know that much of our state's population lives in an area that fails to meet national air quality standards due to pollution commonly known as smog?
The dirty Merrimack Station coal plant run by Public Service Company of New Hampshire (PSNH) is the largest single source of smog pollution in New Hampshire and it continues to spew over 10,000 tons of global warming pollution into our air everyday.
The good news is we now have a chance to tell NH Department of Environmental Services that it is time for them to step up and do their job as regulator of Merrimack Station.

Starting today, August 3, 2009, DES will be accepting public comments as they prepare an operating permit for the continued operation of this dirty plant. This permitting process (Title V permit under the US Clean Air Act) is a chance for our voices to be heard.
Tell NH DES how you feel about living in an area that doesn't meet national air quality standards and having PSNH continue to operate the largest single source of air pollution in our
state with outdated pollution controls.

P.S. We need as many people to take action as possible. Pass this email on to friends and family and ask them to take action to cut
smog pollution from dirty coal in NH. http://action.sierraclub.org/site/R?i=2Vid5RHh3heRBS6T34C2KQ..
